The Dosti Music Project is an international music exchange that brings together socially-engaged musicians from Pakistan, India, and the United States to collaborate in the creation of original music, and to develop musical strategies to address social and geopolitical issues faced by all three nations.
Dosti Music Project will invite ten innovative musicians from Pakistan, India, and the United States to take part in a collaboration centered around an immersive U.S.-based residency and tour program in late February 2016. Dosti Fellows will begin with a three-week residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, where Dosti Fellows will collaboratively compose and rehearse new works, engage in discussions on music-related issues, attend skill-building workshops, and develop their ideas for long-term music projects.
The Residency will be followed by a ten-to-fourteen-day tour through the Southeastern United States, beginning with a three-week residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in central Florida. [cut: with stops in Savannah, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee.] During the tour, Fellows will perform for a diverse set of American audiences, jam with local musicians, lead workshops with local youth, and meet with community, business, and arts leaders. Fellows will also develop Follow-On Projects to continue these collaborations into the future and link with Dosti’s sister project, OneBeat, to develop further programming that makes positive changes locally and globally.
The Dosti Music Project will cover all travel, food and production costs for this program, and provide participants with a modest stipend.
